Hello! My name is Justin Morris. I am a student at PPSC. I graduated high school in 2019 and I wanted to become a music teacher. So I started college around 2020 studying music education, but as you know what happened in 2020, COVID hit. I was struggling, so I decided to take a year long break from school. During the break I was able to relax and began to study a bit of ASL. Why ASL? you might ask, well around October of 2020 I watched a movie called A Silent Voice and it was an amazing movie, it truly was beautiful, and it inspired me to learn sign. I took ASL 1 online, that was great and fun, I really enjoyed it. Awhile later, I took some of the required classes to graduate like Math, Science, and English. I took those and it was fine but at the same time I took ASL 2, in person this time and not online. I really enjoyed this class, it was amazing. The teacher was awesome and I fell in love with the language. I decided to change my major to ASL interpreting and I really enjoy the language, its really fun to use. But I also enjoy watching TV, specifically medical dramas. My favorite medical drama is called New Amsterdam and near the end of the series there is a deaf actress and they are a surgeon, along side them is their medical Interpreter. That show inspired me to want to become a medical interpreter. Today I am fascinated by it and learning more about the medical field or maybe I could connect interpreting with my past experience with music, just maybe, but I think I want to become a medical Interpreter.
